A Place of Idaho’s Pioneers

Before Idaho was a state, the Joplin family was here. Isham Joplin, a farmer who came to Idaho as a territory, founded this cemetery in 1882 as a place to honor those who helped settle the Treasure Valley.

Today, Joplin Pioneer Cemetery is the resting place of more than 1,000 souls—ordinary people who shaped extraordinary times. As the current sexton, Lucas Littlefield, and those before him have understood: this is a place that belongs to the community.
